Cookies from Heaven

Cookies from heaven or somewhere close by,
Reached my tent as if they had fallen from the sky.
I was in need, but I'm tough, so I wasn't letting it show,
Then there were those cookies that simply said "I know!"

Cookies from heaven or somewhere close by,
Sitting in that box with no questions of "Why?"
Just sending quiet support of the job I do,
Letting me know "I appreciate You!"

Cookies from heaven or somewhere close by,
Picking one up, I share the rest with this guy,
He is my buddy now though I don't know him that well,
We are just sharing this time in a place some call hell.

Musician/vocalist: Randy Hyden/Jason Eustice 2009

Cookies from heaven or somewhere close by,
Remind both of us of America and homemade apple pie.
We stand there and talk about "when we get home,"
All the things we'll do, all the places we'll roam.

Cookies from heaven or somewhere close by,
Shared by two soldiers who are willing to die,
For our country, for our land of the free.
We believe in this right for all humanity.

Cookies from heaven or somewhere close by,
Gave strength and comfort to this soldier and I.
We smile in that moment and raise our cookies high,
We know they came from heaven or somewhere close by.

Poem by Janna Rowe 3/29/2006
